We spent Memorial Day at Jennifer’s sister’s house in Greenville, SC. We were hanging out at their neighborhood pool. I had my shirt off. Jessie pointed her little index finger at my chest and asked, “What’s that?” She was actually pointing at a small red mole that I have had for years. But Jennifer quickly responded, “Man boobs!”
So, I decided to start lifting weights again. Tuesday morning, I did my own version of P90X. I guess you could call it J30Y. After some brief stretching and some light exercises, I decided to dive right into a combination workout ATTACKING multiple body parts. I think I remember Tony Horton or Shawn T doing this one. With 20 pound dumbbells (ever wonder why we call them dumbbells?) in each hand, I alternated right and left leg lunges with a combination of curls and military presses. On about the 8th rep, I pulled my right glute.
I’m not sure whether to feel super athletic or old that I pulled my gluteus maximus muscle? I am going with super athletic. Well, it’s the morning of day 2 of J30Y, and I’m not going to let a little injury slow me down. I’m heading down to the basement now, because I’m super motivated after Jennifer’s “hilarious” man boob comment.
What motivates you? What areas of your life do you need to grow and develop… physically, spiritually, mentally? Summer is a great time to start something new and focus on a little personal growth and development. I’ll see you at the pool.
