Last Saturday, Joelan* and I saw the movie, Lone Survivor. It was intense. As we were leaving the theatre, Joelan said it was “Call of Duty times 10”. And I said, “Yes, but this is real life.” We were both moved by the movie and left thankful for those who serve in our military.
The sacrifice that our soldiers and their families make for our freedom is overwhelming, and we are especially grateful for those who have laid their lives down for ours. I have so much respect for all those serving to protect our country and freedom. Let’s continue to honor and pray for them. They are the real heroes.
*DISCLAIMER: I would NOT recommend you taking your teenage son or daughter to see this movie unless you thought he/she was mature enough to handle it. It has VERY strong language and intense war-scene violence. It did create an opportunity for Joelan and I to have a great man to man father and son discussion. But I am in no way encouraging your to take your son (or your wife for that matter) to see this film.
