God knows you. Do you know Him?

Psalm 139:1-6

O Eternal One, You have explored my heart and know exactly who I am;
You even know the small details like when I take a seat and when I stand up again.
    Even when I am far away, You know what I’m thinking.
You observe my wanderings and my sleeping, my waking and my dreaming,
    and You know everything I do in more detail than even I know.
You know what I’m going to say long before I say it.
    It is true, Eternal One, that You know everything and everyone.
You have surrounded me on every side, behind me and before me,
    and You have placed Your hand gently on my shoulder.
It is the most amazing feeling to know how deeply You know me, inside and out;
    the realization of it is so great that I cannot comprehend it.”

God knows you better than you know yourself.  Do you know Him?  If you do, how well do you know Him?  In your daily “structured time” with God or even in your moment by moment walk with Him, how much time do you spend telling God about yourself?

If you’re like me, you will share with God what’s going on in your life…what’s going on with your family…what’s going with your job…etc.  Guess what?  He already knows.

In our communication with God, we need to spend less time telling Him about ourselves and more time getting to know Him.  As Christians, our goal is to be like Christ.  The only way we can be like Him is to know what He is like.

 I want to know Him inside and out. I want to experience the power of His resurrection and join in His suffering, shaped by His death, so that I may arrive safely at the resurrection from the dead.”

Philippians 3:10-11

What will you do today to get to know God better?
