Why we give online…

This past Sunday at Graystone, Barry and Wendy Weaver shared their story of taking the 3 month tithing challenge.  I have talked with several families at Graystone who have recently started tithing, and it has been so encouraging to hear testimonies of God’s provision and faithfulness in their lives.  God promises to BLESS US if we trust Him with the tithe (Malachi 3:8-10).
One of the resources we have to help us with faithful stewardship is online giving.  This is especially helpful in the summer months when we are in and out of town with vacations, traveling to see family and weekend get aways.
Here are 6 reasons why Jennifer and I give online:
  1. It is simple.  Too many things in life are way too complicated.
  2. I (Jennifer) am not organized.  I lose things and can’t ever find my checkbook.
  3. We’re sure it happens.  We want to make sure that our tithes and offerings get turned in, so just like our other bills are now drafted automatically, so is our giving to Graystone.
  4. It is good accountability.  We committed when we first got married to give at least 10% of our income each month.  Over the years we have stepped out in faith and increased our giving to around 20% (a double-tithe.)
  5. I (Jennifer) am weak.  I would be tempted to hold some back if it weren’t for the automatic draft to the church.
  6. We are blessed beyond measure and want to be a channel of blessing to others.  It brings incredible satisfaction to know that we are obedient, and God is using the money for lives to be changed.

If you would like to give online, whether one-time or reoccurring, simply click here to go to the online giving page on Graystone’s website.  If you have trouble, you can contact our Stewardship Pastor, Elliott Rogers, at elliott@graystonechurch.com or 770-466-3159.  He would be more than happy to walk you through it or set it up for you.

  1. Love the post! and especially the Weaver’s testimony. I read Psalm 50 this morning. verses 7-10 stood out to me. I read it as God proclaiming a reminder to me of who he is and the reason we give. He doesn’t need our money (vs. 12), He IS GOD (vs. 7) He already owns everything (vs. 10-12) One of the reasons I give is to remind me where I fit in this whole pecking order, my purpose here on earth. I am a vessel, here for a short time to fulfill HIS purpose. Everything that he has given me is really HIS. I give as a sacrifice to remind myself that nothing I have is because of my own doing but because of what he’s already given me. It’s funny to me how I misunderstood for years, I thought GOD needed my money to fund his plans. While that is somewhat true, GOD will take care of HIS church! We need to give more than he needs us to give.

7 “O my people, listen as I speak.
Here are my charges against you, O Israel:
    I am God, your God!
8 I have no complaint about your sacrifices
or the burnt offerings you constantly offer.
9 But I do not need the bulls from your barns
or the goats from your pens.
10 For all the animals of the forest are mine,
and I own the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 I know every bird on the mountains,
and all the animals of the field are mine.
12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
for all the world is mine and everything in it.
