A third idea for “spreading the word” about Jesus this Christmas season is to place a nativity scene in your yard. You could go with something nice, clean and simple. Or, you could go way over the top (I.e. Clark W. Griswold).
If you went all out, you could actually have a live nativity scene dressing up each member of your family as Joseph (dad), Mary (mom), Jesus (baby…if you do not have a baby, I’m sure you could borrow one from one of our Graystone families), shepherds (older siblings, aunts, or uncles), and the wise men (grandparents). You could probably rent a couple of camels for around $10,000 and bring in some sheep, donkeys, and other farm animals that could double as a petting zoo…I’m just thinking out loud here.
Or, you could simply put a nice, attractive nativity scene in your yard and remind all your neighbors of the true meaning of Christmas.
So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, Luke 2:16-17
