Today’s Quiet Time: One of My Favorite Passages

Right now, in your life, what word or phrase from this passage means the most to you?  And why?

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” Romans 5:1-5

  1. …”gained access by faith into this grace in which I (we) now stand.”

My measly faith is somehow the key-card, i.e. access, to His abundant, never ending grace.

How do we even wrap our brains around this?

    Such incredibly Love.

  2. Wow, such a good one… so many fantastic things in this passage! If I had to pick just one, I would go with grace. I always define grace with an acronym: God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense. Because of the price that Jesus paid we have access to the riches of heaven. That’s pretty cool if you ask me…

  3. I like how the journey from a problem/trial/suffering to HOPE is mapped out for us. Trial – suffering – endurance- character – confident hope.

So, now when a difficult time comes in my life, I know what the end product is supposed to look like! Next time I will begin with the end in mind.
