Clint FrazierIn typical Graystone fashion, our team has GONE the extra mile for Jersey Day.  I hope you’re ready.  The biggest thing is I hope you are BRINGING SOMEONE with you.  I’m recruiting heavy from all 3 of my current teams, not including my Graystone basketball team who better ALL be at Jersey Day with friends in tow.

Here are 5 Things to know:

1.  The team with the highest % of players present wins a FREE pizza party.  There will be at least one winner at both campuses: Ozora and Walton.  If 2 teams tie (I.e. both have 100% of players present…this is what I’m shoot for with my tennis team), they will both win pizza parties.  We are not afraid to give away a pizza party.  Just think, if one person’s life is changed for all eternity, it is worth 100 pizza parties.  Who are you bringing?

2.  Wear your favorite or team jersey.  If you’re new to Graystone, this is not a trick to get you to wear a jersey and everyone else is wearing a suit and tie.  Nope. Just about EVERYONE (grandparents too) will be wearing a jersey.  In fact, I may have a different jersey for every service.

3.  We’re giving away FREE Braves tickets with a parking pass in every service.  If you want to attend all 4 services at both campuses to increase your odds of winning, then go for it.  I encourage a strong competitive spirit.  We are in it to win it!

4.  I will be introducing baby Jase on Sunday.  He is the newborn baby who showed up at our house on Monday…6 pounds, 4 days old, no name, and no family.  He is a true orphan.  He is living with us until he has a permanent family and home.  We’re not sure how long this will be.  The people of Graystone are showering him with God’s love and generosity.  I’m so honored to serve at a church that loves and cares for orphans.  I know God is pleased with the Graystone family.

5.  We have video footage of me taking the mound against 2 top major league baseball prospects:  Clint Frazier (Walton) and Austin Meadows (Ozora).  I don’t think either one of them were ready for my off speed fastball.  Come find out what happens.  Will they join the club with Brett Favre as strike out victims of the legendary (in his own mind) Johnny Howes?

Here’s a sneak peak video:

Andre, Julia, and Alana riding the Rock and Roll Roller Coaster at MGM

Julia is at Disney World for Fall Break.

When is my Fall Break?  How can I go to Florida for a week for FREE?

Tennis updates: Jennifer has decided to be a beast at the net.  Jessie can now hit a one-handed forehand.  I have a huge bruise on my thigh from getting tagged with an overhead on Saturday morning…weekend warrior.

LSU Tigers are #1 in the nation.

Jennifer’s dad, Gramps the Great, is #1 is the nation (out of 80,000+ contestants) on ESPN College Football Challenge.  I am ranked 25,422.  He is ranked #1.

I don’t even want to talk about the Mississippi Mullets.  Fantasy Football is stupid and a waste of time.  Our time is better spent in fasting and prayer.

My message yesterday was A Call to Pray.  Simple but challenging.

I like what Leonard Ravenhill says about prayer,

Preaching affects men; prayer affects God.

Preaching affects time; prayer affects eternity.

I am personally trying to pray more and pray better.  I pray that our church will be a praying church.  I need to be a praying pastor.

Here are a few (Is 4 more than a few?) prayer initiatives:

1. Day of Prayer and Fasting on Wednesday, October 12.  Here are 3 previous posts on fasting:  Tuesday- Day of Prayer and FastingThe Purpose of Fasting, and Only By Prayer and Fasting.

2. Join the Prayer Team: info@graystonechurch.com

3.  Prayer Service, Wednesday, October 12 at 7:00PM

4.  Graystone Prayer Wall:  (http://prayer.graystonechurch.com/)

24 hours a day on the Graystone Prayer Wall, you can post prayer requests and pray for up to the minute prayer requests.  Also, every day at 1:14 PM (Joel 1:14), everyone is encouraged to stop what you are doing, and say a short prayer for the specific POTD (Pray of the Day).  You can find the POTD on the Prayer Wall.

“Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:19-20

BTW, KATB did a great job leading worship yesterday, and I could sense God’s spirit moving.  It seemed like more people were really singing out and “getting lost” in worship.  I really think Graystone is growing spiritually…ON FIRE…AWAKENING!

I loved seeing so many people in both services kneeling at the altar and crying out to God in prayer.  Cast all our anxieties on Him bc He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).

I cannot wait to see what God does through PKS (Project Kids Space).  Let’s pray that He does “immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine (Eph. 3:20).”  The goals are Bronze ($40k), Silver ($75k), and Gold ($100k).

I wonder what “immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine” is?  The Platinum goal?  Or the Diamond?

PS…What is up with the Braves?

5.  Florida vs Alabama….these are the top ranked teams in the SEC and over the last 4 years, whoever has won the SEC has won the BCS National Championship (LSU 2008).  Honestly, I strongly dislike both of these teams and would love to see a tie.  But I’m picking Bama to roll by 2 touchdowns.

4.  LSU vs Tennessee…LSU is undefeated and ranked #12 in the nation.  I really do not think they are that good.  I have expected them to lose the last 2 weeks but they keep surprising me.  Tennessee is in a rebuilding year with Vince Dooley’s son in his first year as head coach.  They barley beat UAB in overtime last Saturday.  This is the perfect trap game for LSU to lose.

3. Mississippi Mullets vs Ultimate Avengers (Tony Dudish)…even though the Mullets are 3-0 and give up the fewest amount of points in the GFFL (Graystone Fantasy Football League), they are considered by the experts to be the underdogs to the 1-2 UA who give up the most points in the GFFL.  I guess the biggest reason the MM are the underdogs is that several of my players are on a bye week including my best player, Adrian “All Day” Peterson.  I’m pretty sure this one will come down to MNF, and I will ask my QB Tom Brady to put the Mullets on his shoulders and lead us to VICTORY.  Either way,  it will be a great clash between two championship GFFL teams.

2. Ryder Cup…Go USA!

1. Braves vs Phillies…The Bravos are fighting hard for the NL Wild Card.  The Phillies have had our number lately, but they have already clinched the division.  So, will they be resting their players?  The good news is that the Giants and the Padres play each other over the weekend, so one of them has to lose.  I’m pulling hard for the Braves this weekend and to hopefully make a great playoff run in Bobby Cox’s final season.

Andre King played professional baseball (66th overall pick by the Atlanta Braves in 1993) and NFL football for the Cleveland Browns.  He is now the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Loganville Christian Academy.  Andre also serves as a volunteer in the 3 year room at Graystone Church.  Last Sunday, I had the opportunity to ask him about sports, life and his relationship with God.
